Director Frazer needs updated 1-A AD information.

Reminder:  Schools wishing to host District Tournaments must have a site agreement on file

Director Frazer has submitted to the state a list of approved football and soccer sites in District IV

2009 Summer Retreat tabled

Gareth Giles award nominations due 12/1

2009 potential amendments need to be brought to November Board meeting

L & I for District events (Meeting with state 10/21 to get more information)

DISCUSSION

1.  District IV Officials selection policy

Vancouver School District has proposed that the Vancouver Officials select and assign all officials for 3-A and 4-A district tournaments.  After considerable discussion regarding the positives and negatives of this request the District IV will still select the officials.  The 3-A’s and 4-A’s will be able to pool their selected officials for assignment to District events.  They have the choice of allowing the assignors to make the assignments to the various tournaments out of the District IV selected pool of officials.

 COMMITTEE REPORTS:

WIAA Executive Board—Henry Karnofski, Wendy Malich

1.      Looking at 4th Officials in Soccer

2.      30% of coach’s do not have updated first aid cards

3.      The Track Officials proposal was discussed.  There is no support from the District for this proposal.  Questions ranged from:

a.       The amount of money involved

b.      Most district meets are on the same day District IV would need around 54 officials, where do we get them?

c.        Wasn’t the 2008 Representative Assembly clear on this matter?

d.      Is this a safety issue, if the state does this will the schools insurance carriers force them to do implement this?

e.       Since most track meet officials are volunteers, will they want to get paid?
